OKLAHOMA CITY, May 27, 1999... Welcome to the wonderful world of Denison Marrs. It is a world where the envelope of space and time is stretched to it's outermost limits. This Florida based quartet places strong emphasis on their live performance, and has managed to take it (35,000) steps farther on their latest release "Holding Hands (@35,000 ft)."
If you have found yourself in central Florida in the last couple of years, you might have had the pleasure of witnessing Denison Marrs in motion. Formed in July of '95, Joseph Bucklew, Daniel Day, Jonathan Bucklew, and Eric Collins have slowly but surely plodded a course through the southeastern U.S. Their brand of melodic space Rock & Roll has earned them a fan base that would turn the head of any record industry stiff. With their self released E.P. "Every Seven Minutes", Denison Marrs' work ethic and methodical song-writing has shifted and shaped up to be a space worthy vessel bound for the farthest reaches.
After inking a deal with 6 x 6 Records, the band headed into the studio for their first full length experiment. At times, experiments can be absolutely tragic. Fortunately for this band theirs was a defining moment, and showed them the way to places and sound-scapes they had yet to discover. Songs like "Polaris" leaves you wondering where you are, and "Silver" leaves you wondering why you can't stop singing it three hours later.
A full scale national tour will definitely leave audiences as bewildered as that monkey they sent up in the 60's. Just as these newly converted "indienauts" ( term taken to define oneself as a Denison Marrs fan) are regaining their breath, the band plans on blindsiding them again this winter. If you can't make it down to sunny central Florida this year to see the phenomenon called Dennison Marrs, fear not, they will come to you.
