Foolish Things has found zealous favor with Christian and secular audiences all over the US., delivering melody and hook saturated rock songs for one of Christian music's hottest sounds. It's no secret that these guys are about their faith, but their thoughts and beliefs are presented with a rare honesty and passion that earns the listener's respect and interest.
Echoing musical influences Jimmy Eat World, U2 and Switchfoot, the band has opened for national acts like Shane and Shane, Jennifer Knapp, Shaun Groves, Ginny Owens, Salvador and Skillet. With previous success of over 10,000 independent record sales, Foolish Things releases their anticipated full-length "Let's Not Forget The Story" with the help of Jason Houser
It all began in the year 2000, after a one off concert at Modbury Church of Christ called SPAM. This was the first time any of the band members had played together. During that concert Mick played a song he had written previous to the concert. From there Mick Wright and Mike Shaw teamed up and wrote about six songs in the six months that followed.
The duo teamed up and played these at a fundraising dinner. At this fundraising dinner Mick and Mike were asked to play at what now is called Mosh@Marion , Mick and Mike wanted a whole band to play at this concert, and thus Mike Hill, Glen Brouwers and Ben Simmonds joined with the others to form what is now called Foolish Things. Gigs started to flow from that night and the rest is history.
After a few years Ben left to raise his family in Kadina, which left Foolish Things with just four members. After much thought the band decided not to replace Ben and become a four piece band.
In May 2003 Foolish things recorded their first album at Life Productions, the album took them months to produce but it was worth it they say.
In early 2005 Mike Hill made the tough decision to leave the band and pursue other opportunities life presented him. Foolish Things searched for a new bass player and found Mike Watson, who replaced Mike Hill.
Over the years some of the highlights for the band have been, playing at Sonfest on the main stage in front of a national audience, doing several country tours, on the east and west coast.
In the future Foolish Things hope to release another album however finding time and money is proving to be much tougher than first thought.
