Humble beginnings marked the start of a mission that would affect thousands across the country. Three young girls, singing at any opportunity, began a service that allowed them to share a secret with any who would listen. With two previous releases selling 400,000 copies, Out of Eden 's childhood passion now maturely walks them up in the steps of credibility. With their junior release No Turning Back, the trio will launch toward the millennium in style, strength, and sincerity.
Heavily influenced by the grass roots of R&B, Out of Eden mixes smooth, mature vocals over beds of full production. Guitars, strings, horn sections and intricate loops layer the pop/R&B release No Turning Back. The blending of their music provides a cross section of potential, while the writing and production stands secure with its peers. Landing prime positioning with BET, a summer '99 tour with Monica, UPN's Moesha show and the box office smash Dr. Dolittle; Lisa, Andrea, and Danielle have begun to live the "super plan" intended for them since their youth. "No Turning Back represents our lives," says Out of Eden 's Lisa Kimmey Bragg (producer, principle songwriter, lyricist), "we have a heart for our peers and a desire to tell our generation that you don't have to lose yourself in today's impressionable society."
Out of Eden holds fast to a discretionary trend in their "fly" musicianship, dress, and dance. Lisa recalls watching TLC and EnVogue drop their first single; now they've seen how times have changed. Lisa speaks of a goal further than just being an industry status quo, "I see No Turning Back as a challenge to bring something different. We're so used to seeing body images of half naked girls." Knowing fully that this is what sells in the industry today, Out of Eden puts a conviction out to producers of the visual media; especially today's successful women of the industry. It's their hope that someone else is weary of this too. Danielle adds, "Because this album was vulnerably written out of life's experiences, some of the music is kind of melancholy, but there is always an answer of hope."
Looking back over the years Out of Eden second release More Than You Know addressed growing questions about luke-warmness, skepticism and pride. Lisa speaks of the new release saying, "we have such a desire to be relevant. The topics of the album matured from the pain of growing in the face of day to day hardships."
In the gallant of girl groups like Xscape, TLC, and Total, Out of Eden comes from a different perspective; a positive approach. The three sisters agree that there is a shift, or numbness that has taken place in our society and it is their goal to bring something positive to the table. "God created us and together we want to say don't waste your time with all the negativity out there. We want to use any vehicle to get our music out."
